The Benefits of Fork Lift Training
Becoming trained to operate a fork lift can have many benefits. Being trained to operate such machinery enables you to load and off-load warehouse supplies quicker. It allows your employees to become more efficient in the ways they use the fork lift, which helps your business to grow. Proper fork lift training allows you to make good use of company time and increases productivity.
The great thing about fork lift training is that you have the opportunity to train on different types. At James T Whitaker, we specialise in the training of 12 different types of trucks, ranging from powered pallet to lorry mounted. We can also train your employees how to use any attachment such as, clamps and spreader bars.

Mobile Elevated Platform Training
James T Whitaker not only specialises in fork lift training, but we also provide mobile elevated platform training. We offer a wide range of training on various types of platforms. Training can be offered to both beginners and experienced operators. The length of courses will depend on the trainees’ current level of experience and training.
MEWP training is different to fork lift training in a number of ways. Due to the risks when operating elevated platforms, a trainee must undertake risk assessment training. While operating either machine can cause workplace incidents, elevated platforms carry a larger number of risks, which is why it is important that they should be identified in risk assessments and suitable measures put in place.
In training, you will be required to identify different types of MEWPs and how to set one up. Our instructors will go through everything with you to ensure you are ready to handle these machines in a work environment. Once you have passed your theory test, you will get behind the controls and be shown how to carry out a regular maintenance check. We will then practice steering with you, around cones in various positions so you become used to what it will be like to drive on-site. When we decide you are ready, you will undergo your practical test and become a qualified MEWP operator.
